It takes a special team of individuals to work in an agency that is dedicated to serving the most severely abused children on the South Plains. Our team is made up of not only CAC staff but also personnel from our partner agencies and volunteers who support our work. We all share three common core values: the children come first in all that we do; we operate as a seamless and unified team; and each of us serves in the best interest of the children.
The CAC works with a multidisciplinary team consisting of law enforcement, CPS, mental health professionals, child abuse pediatric specialists, prosecutors, Rape Crisis Centers, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Lubbock, Hale, Bailey, Lamb, Cochran, Hockley, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Floyd, King, Motley, Crosby, Dickens, and Yoakum County.A CAC forensic interviewer listens to the child’s story and asks non-leading, developmentally-appropriate questions, as the child talks about the trauma he/she has experienced. Law enforcement and CPS professionals observe the interview from a separate room. This reduces trauma for the child and provides for a much stronger case if the case goes to court.
